The highest grade (an "A+") went to U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH), who said last May that he supports medical marijuana "without reservation." Following close behind in the grading were former Ambassador Carol Moseley Braun (D-IL) -- receiving an "A" -- and U.S. Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) -- with an "A-" -- both of whom indicated support for federal medical marijuana legislation. On the next tier were retired Army Gen. Wesley Clark (D-AR) -- earning a "B+" -- and the Rev. Al Sharpton (D-NY) -- earning a "B" -- who also pledged to stop the raids.

Front-runner and former Governor Howard Dean (D-VT) received a "D-."

  • stoner signs

It won't help him at the polls, but Pat's message has penetrated the smoky haze and captured the imagination of the stoner demographic.

To them he offers the promise not of a chicken in every pot, but of a pot sign for anyone who isn't chicken to grab one.

"It seems the younger generation has decided that being a stoner is cool," said Pat, who was born a Stoner and will die a Stoner. He is running for re-election as alderman.

"It's irritating," he said. "They're $4.87 apiece with the wires."

Stoner's campaign signs are a steal. c/o Fark.

  • they treat the ill as criminals

Think of the number of police officers, judges, lawyers and prison guards — not to mention prison construction firms and other providers of basic prison services — who are employed through marijuana's criminalization. It is apparent by any measure that the marijuana laws are more harmful to society and to the individual than the behavior they are attempting to regulate.

The Corrals’ attorney, Ben Rice, said "deputy" status would put WAMM under the provisions of a federal law stating a person can’t be sued for having a controlled substance if he or she is carrying it while "enforcing" local drug laws.

  • The partnership of Cannabis and

    parke davis cannabis bottle

The partnership of Cannabis and man has existed now probably for ten thousand years β€” since the discovery of agriculture in the Old World. One of our oldest cultivars, Cannabis has been a five- purpose plant: as a source of hempen fibres; for its oil; for its akenes or β€˜seeds,’ consumed by man for food; for its narcotic properties; and therapeutically to treat a wide spectrum of ills in folk medicine and in modern pharmacopoeias.

Plants of the Gods: The Nectar of Delight by Richard Evans Schultes and Albert Hoffman takes a look at the intimate relationship humans have had with this plant for thousands of years. I had no idea how central marijuana was to Tibetan Buddhism. Schultes, ethnobotanist and, as best I can tell, father of ethno- (and recreational- and sacramental-) pharmacology passed away on April 10. I guess I didn’t notice because I had not heard of the man before I happened across Ethel the Blog’s link-packed Schultes obituary.
