Immigrant's Tale of Navigating Tangled Health Care Maze Is Instructive
Moon Chul Sun, a South Korean, came to the United States 10-months ago seeking better opportunities for his children. He loved to play soccer and had signed up with a local league. Last month, he suffered what seemed to be, at first glance, a minor head injury while playing. A month later he was dead. The story of how Moon Chul Sun and his family attempted to navigate the U.S. health care system is indeed instructive —and appalling. New York City is home to some of the best medical technology in this country but almost one-third of its inhabitants have no access to it.
