Goonies 2
"The new group is called the Groonies, because they happen to live in a town where [Data], the Chinese kid, lives ... and he's got an electronics repair shop and all the kids hang out at his shop. He has this Chinese accent and he calls the Goonies the Groonies, and so the new kids call themselves the Groonies, until they get into a situation where the old Goonies have to save the new Groonies, or vice versa."
The 'Goonies' sequel is certainly off on the wrong foot.

Especially since Chinese people don't really do the "r" placement thing.
The Japanese do.
And since there is so much bitterness between the Chinese and Japanese, one would have to wonder what this means to the Chinese.

I think the dude who delivered that synopsis of the plot was on something. It reads like a hoax, like Britney overdosing, for example. Racism aside, it doesn't make any fucking sense! Not only that, but if it's supposed to play on the r/l replacement problem, there's not even an L in Goonies to switch. Who would want to see that movie?

It does read like a hoax. Maybe he was just fucking with MTV or something?

Dude I would totally watch that movie even though it will most likely be a massacre of the original. Just like I watched ninja turtles 2... yes, and 3... Satan himself created three. There is a rule to movie sequels actually. Unless they are horror sequels or sci-fi sequels they will ultimately SUCK compared to the original. As for the goonies you do have to give them credit for getting most all of the original cast. That in itself is an accomplishment considering how most multi-character sequels play out usually. I will watch it purely because I am a goonies die-hard.

That would be a real feat bringing back Sloth considering John Matuszak (the actor that played Sloth) died in 1989. I don't know if I could live with anyone else as Sloth.

Having just read the news about Goonies 2 I find the prospect of the old Goonies trying to save the new Goonies a interesting one. But, all this, other town buisness and Groonies stuff seems weird to me. Why would Data leave in order to open an electronics repair shop? What kind of fantasy setting can a city provide. The story should take place in Astoria as did the first movie (and in the fall) and they should also try to give it an 80's feel. Let's hope we don't see some techno rap characters in this film (no disrespect for the music), otherwise it would be better if they turn Goonies 2 the videogame in a movie!

When i first found out about this sequal stuff i was stoked, now hearing the plot i'm afraid for everything i loved about my childhood. If anyone important is reading this, please don't massacre my childhood dreams, i want this one to be the same for my kids as it was for me. keep the Goonies in Astoria. Let it be about the goonies grown up rather than some random kids we aren't attached to.

This Is Going To Be A Difficult Movie To Remake. I Too Fear The Remake Having The Potential To Shatter My Childhood Memory As This Classic Impacted My Life Forever. The Eighties Theme With Accurate Music Depiction Would Maintain That Feel. Perhaps The Idea Of The Goonies Acknowledging Sloths Death. This Way, Sloth Is Nothing But A Mention In The Sequel.
