Apple iTunes independent music pitch

I got an invitation to go to Apple's office for a presentation/meeting today (June 5, 2003) about how to get independent artists into the iTunes Music Store. There were about 150 people there, representatives from the best independent record labels and music services, in this invitation-only conference room. Steve Jobs came out and started a two and a half hour presentation/seminar/Q&A about iTunes and the benefits of independent labels making their music available there. I type fast and had my laptop, so I wrote down all the major points of their presentation as they went.
Just in case you, like me, are rabidly curious.

Great post! Still no precise answer to the issue of artists' compensation, originally brought up by Dave Winer.

It seems pretty clear that's entirely up to the labels, from these notes anyway. Apple appears to be *only* dealing with hand-picked labels for the music store.

Christ, the text is gone already. I wondered how long it would last.

macsurfer might point to some mirrors, or maybe a thread on macslash or something.

gnutella news has it saved.

Thanks for the info! As an indie artist I'm rabidly interested in the possibilities of publishing to iTunes without a label (though my new CD on ACM Records is on iTunes as of yesterday).
