protecting whose rights?
Then to make it shamefully clear what side the administration is on, the police forcibly removed Jessica from the auditorium, handcuffed her, took her to the UIC police station, charged her with "disorderly conduct," and held her in lockup till 4 am. There, one of the police who had been at the lecture confirmed Jessica's claims to the officer in charge, but this was tossed aside. When they released her, instead of carrying out their duty to insure she would get home safely at 4am, they left her to the mercy of an off-duty policeman who privately offered her a ride home and then tried to arrange for sex.

hmm, wonder what all the "liberal fascists", "feminazis" and "political correctness gestapo" that we keep hearing about were doing that day. the only fascist, nazi, or gestapo-like behavior i'm seeing in this story is being perpetrated by...now how about that?...Horowitz and his reactionary cronies...
right wing conservatives have been spouting off for years now about how america's campuses have been taken over by traitorous fifth column elements (actually, let's get real, they have been spouting off about exactly that since the fifties), but in my estimation they remain, as they always have, less institutions of free and disciplined thought and more the corporate lackey factories that mario savio railed against with the fsm.
that guy horowitz needs some serious therapy at the very least, based on what i've read both by and about him. i think he may have post-traumatic stress disorder from his past associations with the more scary elements of the panthers. i'm fairly confident that a rigorouos program of inpatient therapy including meds doesn't work, he might just need to have his ass kicked.
